Looking for a great meal? Whether it's a simple lunch, a delicious evening dinner, a cheeky takeaway, or celebrating a special occasion, there are plenty of fantastic local options to choose from.
Oboe Fine Wine: A Distinctive Harmony of Craft, Character, and Curation

From the outset, Kim and David have built their business together with an emphasis on personal service, eschewing the impersonal nature of mass retail in favour of thoughtful guidance and tailored recommendations. Their collection spans an impressive range of wines sourced from across the globe, each selected for its character, provenance, and integrity. These are wines shaped by small-scale producers, often working with biodiversity and sustainable practices at the forefront, resulting in bottles that speak eloquently of their terroir.
Central to their philosophy is a commitment to accessibility without compromise. Their portfolio includes organic and vegan-friendly options, all offered at approachable price points, ensuring that exceptional wine is not reserved solely for special occasions but can be enjoyed as part of everyday life.
The experience of Oboe Fine Wine extends beyond the bottle. Their shop now serves wine within its intimate bar setting, inviting guests to explore and savour selections in situ. Private wine tastings and consultations are available by appointment, allowing clients to engage more deeply with the collection, whether for personal enjoyment or curated events. For those unable to visit, home consultations can also be arranged, reinforcing the brand’s dedication to convenience and bespoke service.
Whether selecting a single bottle or assembling a case, the process is seamless, with delivery options enhancing accessibility. From Champagne and sparkling wines to expressive reds, crisp whites, delicate rosés, and distinguished Ports, the offering is curated with an eye for both celebration and everyday indulgence.
Notably, Oboe Fine Wine maintains a carefully chosen selection of approximately fifty wines, each with a story to tell. From award-winning English whites and sparkling varieties to an elegant Pinot Noir from New Zealand, the range celebrates both the familiar and the unexpected. Their sourcing often leads them to lesser-known regions and indigenous grape varieties, adding a layer of discovery to every purchase.
The setting itself is as compelling as the wines it houses. Located within the Old Slaughterhouse Building in the village of Eydon, near the Northamptonshire-Oxfordshire border, the shop is steeped in history. Dating back to the late 1700s and operational until 1954, the building retains its original features, including artefacts and a working beech wheel. Constructed from local red ironstone and set upon an agricultural concrete base, the space naturally maintains an ideal temperature for wine storage; cool, consistent, and perfectly suited to preserving quality.
In Oboe Fine Wine, tradition and modernity converge. It is a place where history lingers in the walls, craftsmanship fills the glass, and every detail, like a well-played note, resonates with intention.
In the quiet elegance of rural England, Oboe Fine Wine emerges as a refined expression of passion, precision, and personal touch, an enterprise shaped as much by artistry as by expertise.
Established in January 2021, the boutique wine business is owned and run by Kim Keeble and David Fitch-Peyton, whose shared vision has quickly matured into a destination for discerning wine lovers seeking both quality and individuality.
The name itself offers a glimpse into its soul. Inspired by Kim’s career as a professional oboist, Oboe Fine Wine draws a parallel between the discipline of classical music and the delicate craft of winemaking. Much like a finely tuned instrument, each bottle curated by the pair reflects balance, nuance, and a deep respect for its origins.

Roman Way Brewery:
Where Ancient Roads Inspire Modern Brewing
At the edge of history and craftsmanship, Roman Way Brewery stands as a quietly distinctive force within Northamptonshire’s thriving independent beer scene. Situated at the historic Royal Ordnance Depot in Weedon, this experimental micro-brewery draws more than just its location from the past—it channels it.
The name itself is no coincidence. Nestled close to Watling Street, the first Roman road built in Britain, Roman Way Brewery finds enduring inspiration in the legacy of ancient routes and resilient engineering. This connection informs not only its identity but also the naming of its brews—each one a subtle nod to the journeys, stories, and structures that shaped Britain centuries ago.
Yet, while the inspiration may be ancient, the mission is resolutely modern: to produce exceptional real ale. Roman Way Brewery is devoted to crafting beers that are both rooted in tradition and alive with experimentation. Whether discovered at the brewery’s taproom events or poured in one of the many independent free houses across Northamptonshire, each pint is designed to deliver a memorable, authentic experience.
Every brew is hand-crafted using time-honoured methods, with an uncompromising commitment to quality. Only the finest ingredients make their way into the process, ensuring that each batch reflects a careful balance of skill, patience, and passion. The result is beer made not just with precision, but with a palpable sense of pride.
Beyond the brewing itself, Roman Way Brewery plays an active role in nurturing its local creative community. From supporting musicians and street food vendors to collaborating with fellow producers and neighbouring businesses, the brewery thrives as a cultural hub as much as a destination for beer. Its taproom offers more than a drink; it offers an atmosphere shaped by local talent and shared enthusiasm.
This dedication extends into every aspect of the experience, from curated small-batch releases to thoughtfully paired local offerings. Whether it’s a pub showcasing a fresh cask on the hand pump or a new cider finding its audience among taproom regulars, Roman Way Brewery embraces the richness of local collaboration.
Practicality, too, is considered with care. Customers can enjoy free delivery within five miles on orders over £30, or collect directly from the brewery during its Friday and Saturday evening openings, where the taproom comes alive with conversation and character.
For those looking to deepen their connection, the Roman Way Membership offers a refined extension of the experience. Designed as both a thank-you and an invitation, it brings together a community of enthusiasts with exclusive perks—from member-only merchandise and discounts to a dedicated annual gathering complete with food, drinks, and shared celebration.
Roman Way Brewery is, at its heart, a place of convergence: past and present, craft and community, tradition and quiet innovation. It is a brewery that understands that great beer is not simply made; it is cultivated, shared, and remembered.
